Yesterday Was a Day Made in Heaven!!

Even though I got the gift of a cold from my kids that I substitute taught last week, yesterday was soooooooo much fun!!

Right off the bat, I woke up to beautiful snow - the first of the season!!

I think this must have been a snow ghost coming out to see what I was doing!!

Then my mailman brought the mail and amongst all the bills and junk mail was a lovely package that turned out to be a gracious little gift from Donna over at Brynwood Needleworks.
It was a wonderful surprize - thank you Donna!!

Then, it was Class week at our Guild and I signed up for it.  Lynn, the teacher, was excellent and we learned to do all kinds of embroidery stitches.  Some I knew but the bullion stitch and the shadow stitch were new to me.  I love that little bullion stitch!!
Then, Lynn also made us a little note book with instructions for all the stitches and this cool liitle piece of muslin and a plastic holder, so we could make a little sampler of each stitch and keep it in our book!!

Then on the way home from the class, I stopped at the sock store and got some socks.  Well, it did snow today - new socks were a vital necessity!!
Are they cute or what??  And they are manufactured right here in the Cache Valley - right in the building where I bought them!!  Hey, how did those Butterfingers sneek into the picture??

Next, I stopped at the grocery store where I picked up my first Egg Nog of the season!!  Oh, Yum!!  A yearly tradition for me!!  :-))
Then when I got home my handyman, who had to put me off for two weeks because of a "job from heck" he was working on, was finishing up the last ceiling fixture down in the Studio!!  Woo! Hoo!!  Now I can really get to work - after I finish with this cold - and get some sewing done!!

And the final excitment for the day was going to my weekly sit and knit at the local yarn shop that is outrageously fabulous!!  I am working on a bag that I am knitting and then will felt for all my knitting goodies.  Well, come on, I can't use my Quilting Goodie bag for my knitting stuff!!
While working on it, I noticed the lady on the other side of the couch knitting socks with a 40" circular needle.  Well, I have always wanted to knit socks but I have never been able to coordinate the 4 double pointed needles.  So, when I saw her working with a circular needle I just had to find out how and, even though I promised myself I would not buy anything last night, I ended up getting this ~
Okay, several folks have suggested I am ADHD - do you think so??

I was sooooooooo tired last night that all I could do was take my cold medicine and fall into bed!! That's why I am posting today!!  Thanks for stopping by and listening!!

Postage Stamp Quilt

I have been seeing these darling postage stamp quilts all ove blogland and I really wanted to try one but they seemed so intimidating.  Well, when Deanna over at Wedding Dress Blue did a tutorial on the postage stamp quilts, I decided I would give one a try.  So, I decided that I would make a doll quilt size for my partner in the Doll quilt Swap that I am a member of.  Here is what I came up with ~
Now this quilt is small - 19" x 15" and the little postage stamps are 1-1/2" finished. I loved making this little quilt - it was fun and quite easy and so now I am not afraid of trying a larger one - SOMEDAY!!!

I Got the Cutest Housewarming Gift . . .

from my darling friend, Shell . . .yes, that Shell from The Raspberry Rabbits!!  I commented on how much I loved her newest design, "The Hare's Lair" and she went and sent me one as a housewarming gift!!
It came packed like this - oh, wow, a real present!!

And when I opened it up, here is what I found ~

plus a darling litle card ~
That read, "Dear Mom - Wishing you a wonderful, fun and happy adventure in your new home.  Love always, your daughter, Shell!!"

Thank you Shell, I love, love, love it and can't wait to get started on it!!  And I LOVE the polka dots and the lime green - two of my favorites!!

Making Progress . . . and Other Goodies!!

Well, the move is all said and done.  I filled my last van-full of stuff yesterday, cleaned up my space at the old house and with a good night's sleep I am ready for a new day!!

I have made some progress in the Quilting Studio and does it feel good!!
Before ~

And after!!

How fun is that!!  And I even cut some fabric for some orders here already!!  There is still a lot more fabric to move down here but it is getting here so but sure.  I also have another rack to put up where the bare wall looks so lonely!!

Also, on Wednesay night our Church ladies group had a fun Halloween dinner and craft night!  The decorations were so cute ~
This little pumpkin was the bread bowl for the vegatable dip . . .

and these were the desserts!!  Look at that finger!!  and of course a spooky owl and witch's teeth!!

And here is what I made for the craft ~
Is this darling or what??

And finally, I received my Hexie Flowers from my swap partner, Melody over at The House on the Other Side of the Hill in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap ~
I LOVE both flowers and Melody also sent me a great green dot (my very favorite color - green) and one of her darling scissor fobs!!

And look, I have the perfect scissors for the fob ~
Thank you Melody - I love everything you sent and the flowers are made so beautifully!!!
Go check out Melody's blog - you won't be sorry!!!

A Fun Surprise!!

Patty over at Quilter ooo and Her Small Studio is the one who made this darling tissue holder that I blogged about yesterday ~
and Patty has graciously provided the website where she got the pattern from - Heirloom Creations has a PDF pattern for $1.99!!  Now that is a steal!!  Only sad thing is that Patty has not provided the cute fabric she used, so I guess you are on your own to find the perfect fabric for your Hawaiian Shirt Tissue Holders!!

Thanks for sharing, Patty!!  You are the best!!!

I am not sure I have ever seen ANYTHING any cuter than this little shirt * it has a collar and everything!!!

Patty - I LOVE the quilt and the the little tissue holder - I have actually decided that this cute little quilt is going on the living room wall where everyone that walks in the door can see it!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
