Thank You for All Your Help and Giveaway Winner!!

Oh, wow, I guess all these years that I have been making 2 Hexie Flowers at a time and sending them off and receiving 2 flowers once in awhile, I really had not done much thinking about what it took to put them all together into a quilt!!

Yiks!!  Lots of thinking and planning and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of work!!  When I get this completed, like a million years from now, I think it will be gorgeous!!

I took into consideration all the comments everyone offered and suggestions and decided this is going to be my plan ~

Like most of you, I liked picture #3 the best until Wendy said:

I like having two rounds on the flowers and then what is called the path around those two which would be finished like the last set of pics with one round after the batik fabric...this allows for a larger flower which in turn will make your quilt larger..

And then Daryl said:

Typically a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt has a "path" that surrounds each hexagon flower. Choose a color you want for the path and use it throughout. I have also seen diamonds sewn as the path instead of hexagons. Here is the photo of the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt that my mom made the top for over 40 years ago and that I finally quilted and finished 2 years ago: http://patchouli-moon-studio.blogspot.com/2012/03/grandmothers-flower-garden-quilt.html  My mom used a solid pink for the garden path.

Then Nancy liked the middle one and sent me a picture of a Grandmother's Flower Garden she wants to make some day.  And then Janarama suggested:

If you want a path around the flowers, I think the white is too strong against the blue. I would use a different color ... maybe a green to match the green in the batik?

With the flower I used for the picture, the batik and green dot seem to overwhelm it but I do have much stronger colored flowers, so I think all and all it will be gorgeous!!

Congratulations Alice, Mr. Random chose your name!!

Alice, would you please email me and give me your address so I can get this gorgeous piece of batik off to you??

And again, thank you to everyone who took the time to leave a comment.  They were all so helpful and made me realize that if I want a traditional (well, except for the bold colors - Tee! Hee!) Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, it takes more than just making a few flowers here and there!!

The green dot fabric will look great in your quilt. Looking forward to seeing more of it done, but alas I don't think I will be around for the million year unveiling of your finished quilt, lol!!!
